Custom Fields: Collecting Exactly What You Need

Every event is different. A car show needs make, model, and year. A workshop needs dietary restrictions and t-shirt size. A competition needs skill level and experience. Custom fields let you collect exactly what your event requires without any of the rest.

Field types

Loe supports six field types:

• Text - single-line input for short answers
• Textarea - multi-line input for longer responses
• Dropdown - predefined list of options, one selectable
• Checkbox - yes/no toggle, good for agreements and opt-ins
• File upload - for photos, documents, or any file type you specify
• Number - numeric input with optional min/max constraints

Required vs. optional

Mark a field as required and Loe will block submission until it is filled in. Use this sparingly - the more friction in a registration form, the higher the drop-off rate.

Field ordering

Fields appear on the registration form in the order you define them. Drag to reorder. Group related fields together so the form feels coherent.

Per-ticket-type fields

Fields can be attached to specific ticket types rather than the entire event. This is useful when different tiers need different information - for example, collecting vehicle details only from participants, not spectators.

Accessing field responses

All field responses appear in the registration detail view in your admin dashboard. You can also export to CSV for offline processing.

Tips from event organizers

• Ask for information you will actually use. Every extra field costs you registrations.
• For file uploads like vehicle photos, set a max file size and specify accepted formats in the field description.
• Use checkboxes for waivers and agreements rather than free-text acknowledgment.
• If you need information you forgot to add before going live, you can add fields after launch - existing registrants will not be asked retroactively.
